Yamnia I. Cortés, an Associate Professor in the University of Iowa College of Nursing, received the Office of the Vice President for Research Faculty Communicating Ideas Award. This award recognizes individuals who excel in communicating their research to the public through print and electronic media. Dr. Cortés is a regular contributor to the public discourse around midlife women’s healthcare, and the disparities faced by Latinas in accessing menopause care. She has been featured in media stories, including major outlets such as Oprah Daily and the PBS documentary, “The M Factor: Shredding the Silence on Menopause.”
